Higher Education Academy/JISC Open Educational Resources Programme - Phase 2
Phase 2 of the OER programme will run between August 2010 and August 2011. Projects and activities are funded to:
a. Extend the range of materials openly available.
b. Document benefits offered by OER to those involved in the learning process.
c. Enhance the discoverability and use of OER materials
Funded activity areas:
Activity Area A - The release of OER
- Ai: A new set of OER release projects (the "Release" strand)
- Aii: Open Materials for Accredited Courses, releasing materials linked to the national professional standards for staff who teach in higher education (the "OMAC" strand )
- Aiii: Cascade Strand: The support of existing teams who are already releasing OER in embedding their practice in other environments (managed by JISC)
Activity Area B - The use of OER
- Bi: An investigation into the use of OER in UK Higher Education.
- Bii: The collection of case study data around the use of OER in English Higher Education9
- Biii: The tracking of the use of materials released by pilot phase projects.
Activity Area C - The discovery of OER
- Ci: Projects collecting OER from various worldwide sources, to bring together thematic collections (the "Collections" strand , managed by JISC)Intended outputs and outcomes of the programme include:
Outputs
- A wider range of Open Educational Resources that address sector priorities, and the means of finding and using them.
- Additions to the JISC infoNet OER infoKit including models of release, discovery and reuse.
- Additional programme publications and conferences.
Outcomes
- A wide range of materials made openly available, and widely used and reused.
- A greater understanding of the benefits offered by OER release.
- The continuation of the cultural change process begun in the OER pilot programme
