E-Learning is the use of computer-based learning tools and resources, internet technologies and computer-based assessment tools to deliver and/or support learning. Increasingly the term e-learning also includes using virtual learning environments which manage the whole learning process, allowing students to be allocated to discussion groups, given access to digital tools and resources and assessed online. The following resources have been selected to support you as you plan, implement and evaluate the effective use of communication and information technologies (C&IT) in your teaching. This list includes practical guides and examples of how e-learning may be used to support learning and participation, discussion of the pedagogy behind e-learning and a few more specialist resources for developing specific areas of e-learning such as computer mediated communications, assessment and accessibility.
