LTSN Generic Centre Assessment Series No 13 This briefing examines some of the main principles of assessment as applied to problem-based learning (PBL). In particular, the need to ensure alignment between the objectives and student learning outcomes of the course, the learning environment and assessment methods is stressed. The primary audience for this briefing is teaching staff from all disciplines and all institutions. A secondary audience would include staff and educational developers who support those introducing it in their teaching. The briefing would also be useful to those involved in the leadership and management of HE.
