Web-based distance learning in educational organisations

The introduction of the computer into education has dramatically influenced the means by which educators may approach teaching. Computers are used for the storage, manipulation and transport of information. Multimedia is the addition of media formats, which enhance the presentation of this information. This paper outlines some of the latest innovations to become commonplace in web based distance learning. We also review some of the areas where distributed multimedia is being used and we provide a brief glimpse at some of the impact multimedia may have in the near future.
