We work closely with the Scottish educational development community on a range of projects (including SHEER) and development activities to support: academic staff directly (including new lecturer programmes) and encourage partnerships involving educational developers, academic staff and discipline communities such as our Subject Centres.
Since 2007 we have funded two phases of the SHEER project, undertaken by members of Universities Scotland's Educational Development sub-committee.
Its primary aim was to identify the roles that Educational Development Units and our Subject Centres (SCs), individually and collectively, play in implementation of the quality enhancement agenda at subject level.
The second phase of SHEER involved four mini-projects and considered different ways in which closer partnership working between educational developers and SCs and their institutional contacts can be developed in a more joined-up way that helps to further support institutions and their staff. The final reports of the four mini-projects and an overview paper are available in the box below.
The two phases of the project have focused on a number of subject areas within Scottish HEIs and worked with a variety of academic and support staff including SC contacts and Subject Centres themselves.
