The Scottish Benchmarking Group (SBG) was formed in 2005, and explores approaches to benchmarking e-learning provision and practice in Scotland.
It is open to all interested insitutions and currently comprises: the Universities of Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Glasgow Caledonian, Heriot-Watt, Paisley, Stirling and Strathclyde, as well as the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) and the Academy.
The Academy has provided modest development funding for a small number of benchmarking projects. These range from institutional collaborations focusing on student learning activities, to adaptation of a methodology employed in the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE)-funded benchmarking exercise, to the development of success indicators derived from the use of the Management in the 90s (MIT90)'s framework for organisational change.
