Employability continues to be a major priority area of work in the Scottish sector since the Employability Enhancement Theme in 2004-05 and the subsequent supporting national network, Scottish Higher Education Employability Network (SHEEN), which was established in late 2006,, is a joint initiative of the Academy, QAA Scotland, the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) and Universities Scotland.
It aims to:
- support institutions in implementing, monitoring and evaluating their employability strategies
- assist the SFC in taking forward its implementation plan for Learning to Work (pdf)
- provide opportunities to discuss and share approaches and practice.
SHEEN consists of a senior representative with a responsibility for employability from each Scottish Higher Education Institution (HEI), Employability Co-ordinators, and representatives from other organisations.
For an introduction to SHEEN, please see this presentation given at the Academy's Annual Conference in July 2008.
For resources from past meetings of SHEEN, please see our Resources page.
