This group was established in early 2009 as part of the Academy's revised strategic approach to its work in Scotland. Membership comprises of the growing number of Academy Subject Centre Scottish Country Consultants and Associates and two representatives from the Scottish Educational Development community to ensure there is a direct input from Scottish discipline communities and individual staff. It meets twice per year and its purposes are as follows:
- To provide a mechanism that enables Scottish-based discipline communities to guide and inform the work of the Academy in Scotland at both strategic and operational levels as well as to provide advice to the Academy on policy development, from disciplinary perspectives.
- Issues raised by the Forum will be used to help inform Academy planning processes and guidance. There may also be occasions when discipline- specific issues are fed back to the HE Quality Working Group (HEQWG) and Universities Scotland LTC and its sub- committees, for consideration and discussion.
- To provide a forum for sharing practice and innovations
- To provide a forum for mutual peer support in terms of colleagues' experience of their role and relationship with their Subject Centre etc.
- To enable opportunities for exploring possible collaboration on research/development projects to tackle strategically identified Learning, Teaching and Assessment challenges for Scottish discipline communities
