HEA Global Teaching Excellence Award

Award overview

The Higher Education Academy is launching the Global Teaching Excellence Award (GTEA), a new global award that is exclusively focused on identifying and recognising higher education providers that are pursuing world-class teaching and learning strategies.

Full assessment criteria and information on how and when to enter will be published on our website in late February. The award will be at an institutional level, with applicants required to articulate and evidence how their strategic level work has had an impact on practice in order to support student success, enabling students from all backgrounds to thrive.

Submissions will first be considered by external peer reviewers who will assess applying institutions on the information submitted against the criteria. The ‘top 25’ shortlist and overall winner of the award will be chosen by a panel of expert international judges.

Recruitment of judging panel and external peer reviewers

We are now looking to:

  1. Recruit to the panel of international judges for GTEA
  2. Recruit to our list of potential external peer reviewers.

If you have experience in the assessment of higher education bids at an international level and would like to be considered for a place on the judging panel, we want to hear from you. Judging will take place in June 2017, with a virtual judging panel meeting at the end of June. The judging panel will be invited to the GTEA dinner and ceremony, which will take place in London in early September 2017 (travel and subsistence will be covered by the HEA).

To be added to the list of potential external peer reviewers, please get in touch particularly if you are a Principal or Senior Fellow of the HEA or have experience in undertaking criteria based assessments. Reviewers will need to commit to reviewing at least six applications (maximum of 3,500 words each) for quality assurance purposes, with reviewing to take place in May 2017. Full reviewer guidelines and online training will be provided by the HEA. Please note there is no remuneration for undertaking reviews.
