The call for expressions of interest to take part in the HEA’s UK Engagement Survey (UKES) 2016 is now open.
UKES is the only undergraduate survey in the UK to focus on student engagement, providing vital information which can be used by institutions to help enhance learning and teaching. It is based on the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), which is widely used in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Ireland.
Information from survey results can be used by higher education providers to identify areas of strength and to address areas for development – thereby increasing the appeal of programmes and the quality of information provided to prospective students.
UKES allows organisations to:
- gain valuable data to inform enhancements to learning and teaching; benchmark provision against others, while results remain confidential;
- add tailored questions.
UKES was piloted in 2013 to explore the potential for a national undergraduate student engagement survey. A second pilot took place in 2014, involving 32 institutions and over 25,000 students. The report of the 2014 pilot can be read here.
