This toolkit complements the strategic direction set out in The Higher Education Academy’s (HEA) Framework for student engagement through partnership and offers tools for reflection and planning to help you embed the framework into policy and practice. Framework for student engagement through partnership  

The HEA regards student engagement through partnership as a relationship and promotes four areas where partnerships may be fostered:

  • Learning, teaching and assessment – students as active participants in their learning.
  • Curriculum design and pedagogic consultancy – student engagement in formal processes of course design, revalidation and staff development.
  • Subject-based research and inquiry – student engagement as co-researchers and co-inquirers within a programme or extra-curricular research projects.
  • Scholarship of teaching and learning– student engagement in inquiries into learning, teaching and assessment.

The HEA offers a completely flexible and bespoke consultancy service across a range of areas, including student engagement through partnership, as well as the other strategic priorities addressed through the HEA's framework series.
