As part of the HEA Scotland embedding equality and diversity in the curriculum (EEDC) strategic enhancement project, University of Stirling developed a pedagogic approach based on interculturalism theory to embed EEDC through their PGCert in learning and teaching. Using Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Danger of a Single Story as the starting point from which staff reflected on their own stories and learning and teaching practice, the project focused on the facilitation of conversations around equality and diversity in learning and teaching and the implications for practice. This individual lens was complemented by the facilitation of dialogue for the development of an institutional approach to interculturalism as well as the development of a programme-leader toolkit for further capacity building.
