This presentation was delivered at the Interdisciplinary Sustainability Education: Insights, Momentum and Futures event held at the Higher Education Academy in York on 14th December 2011. The event shared findings from eight inter-disciplinary Education for sustainable development projects funded in 2010 by the HE Academy.
Professor Colin T. Read of the University of Dundee gave this presentation about a HEA funded interdisciplinary sustainability education project (ESD). The project aimed to explore the extent to which ESD is a part of, or can be accommodated within, or is squeezed out by the formal accreditation criteria of professional, statutory and regulatory bodies (PSRBs). It further sought to explore how staff incorporate elements of ESD and does the level of embedding ESD vary across disciplines and what lessons can be transferred?
