Qualitative evidence synthesis learning events (SyNTAQuES)

The Health and Social Care Cluster identified a need for an introductory overview to the topic of qualitative evidence syntheses/systematic reviews with a view to feeding into an intermediate event, providing more in-depth consideration of theory generation and integration of qualitative and quantitative research. A supplementary objective was therefore to build systematic review capacity, particularly in a methodology of specific relevance to both health and education.

The Learning Event Team from the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR), University of Sheffield, was selected to deliver the series of seven learning events for several reasons: established track record of short course development and delivery, expertise in a wide range of review methods, detailed working knowledge of health and education contexts, critical mass with systematic review and synthesis capacity, and a publication record in the curriculum area.
