Dr. Mark Jones is the Chief Operating Officer of the Higher Education Academy, a UK-based charity that works with universities to promote excellence in teaching. Mark started his career at the University of York before moving to the University of Hull and working with the BBC on its national digital curriculum project.
Thereafter, Mark became Managing Director of Broadband Capital, a public-private venture which used web technology to deliver new and innovative approaches to public service delivery, including developing the first mobile app service for the NHS. From there, Mark joined healthcare charity Compass as Director of Business Development, expanding the charity’s work across London and into services for vulnerable young people.
Immediately before joining the HEA, Mark worked for global satellite operator Solaris Mobile where he oversaw its government services strategy to bridge the digital divide. All Mark’s previous roles have focused on improving the effectiveness and value of public services and helping organisations to transition from a grant-funded environment to commercial sustainability.
Mark has a BA and D.Phil from the University of York and an MBA from the University of Hull.
