Kathy joined the HEA in 2011. She has created online forums for academic colleagues, organised an HEA Summit to support scholarly, research informed teacher education which led to our strategic project in teacher education. This work is being disseminated through reports, events and conferences. She has worked with HEI teacher educators to support the implementation of the new Standards for Teachers and to create resource lists for key areas of teacher education as well as supporting initiatives in teacher education across four nations.

Prior to joining the HEA, Kathy worked for 15 years as a secondary English and French teacher. She led secondary teacher training programmes at Anglia Polytechnic University and set up new secondary teacher education programmes at the University of East London.
In 2009, Kathy was awarded a Teaching Fellowship by the University of East London in recognition for her work in developing the Virtual Schools Project - a cross curricular blended learning initiatives.
Kathy is a Fellow of the HEA and holds a MA in Educational Practice from the University of East London, a PGCert in Education from St Martin’s College, now University of Cumbria, and a BA from the University of Lancaster.
