Di is the Programme Director for the MSW and has 15 years experience in interprofessional education. She was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship in recognition of excellence in teaching and learning in 2002. She has a background in psychology and social work, specializing in the field of mental health since 1991, with experience spanning the voluntary, statutory and prison sectors. As an academic, Di has developed a range of innovative mental health training programmes and consultancy projects with health and social care organisations. She is Social Care Lead for the North East Hub of the Mental Health Research Network (MHRN) and the National Social Care Lead for MHRN UK. Di Chairs the Steering Group for the Prison and Offender Research in Health and Social Care North East, Yorkshire and Humber Network (PORSCH- NEYH), reflecting her interest in forensic social work. She undertakes research on mental health services and is an Editor for the Journal of Mental Health Workforce Development as well as acting as external examiner for a number of mental health training programmes.
