External Examiners of all experience levels are invited to take part in a professional development course to be held in Birmingham on March 21.
Participation in the one-day pilot course, part of a sector-led project to strengthen UK HE External Examining, is free and participant feedback will inform the development of a generic professional development model. The HEA has already run two successful pilots with Oxford Brookes University and the University of Liverpool.
The face-to-face course in Birmingham will be preceded by integral preparatory work course available online from March 7.
The pilot course in Birmingham is the first of a series of free courses the HEA is offering around the country. The same course will be run in Edinburgh, London and Cardiff in May.
External Examiners wishing to take advantage of the course or wanting more information can register their interest by emailing the Higher Education Academy at: firstname.lastname@example.org
More details of how both individuals and institutions can get involved in the HEFCE Degree Standards and External Examining project can be found here.
