Higher Education Providers
A generic external examiner course is being developed and piloted, in the first instance, with the University of Liverpool, Oxford Brookes University, the Royal Northern College of Music, Cardiff Metropolitan University, Queens University Belfast and The University of Edinburgh.
A range of other higher education providers have already expressed an interest in early engagement with the project, with the HEA establishing an ‘early adopters’ list of HEPs who would like to engage with the professional development course for external examiners once it has been piloted and evaluated.
Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies and Subject Associations
Methods for calibrating standards will be developed and piloted with a range of PSRBs and subject associations, initially with the Royal Geographical Society, the English Association, the Health and Care Professions Council and the Veterinary Schools Council. The HEA are currently in discussion with other subject associations and PSRBs about being involved in the pilot work.
Individual External Examiners
There are two ways external examiners can get involved:
1. Online Pilot Course
There will be an online course pilot as part of year one of the project. Details and updates on when and how to enrol will be posted on this page in the near future.
2. Regional Pilot Course
There are four pilot regional courses being delivered across the country as part of year one of the project.
One-day pilot courses in Birmingham (March 2), Edinburgh (May 10), London (May 15) and Cardiff (May 22) are now fully booked.
Regional courses will take place during the 2017-18 academic year as the project rolls out. Advance details of locations and dates will be published on this page later this summer with ample time provided to enrol.
