New to Programme Leadership: Sector Trends: Managing Transnational Education

New to Programme Leadership: Sector Trends: Managing Transnational Education

Overview

This day-long workshop will consider strategic approaches to developing Transnational Education (TNE) provision. Typically, TNE takes two forms: firstly, that delivered by a UK university through a branch campus in another country or by distance learning, and secondly that delivered by a partnership arrangement between a UK university and a local institution with the latter providing support or delivering taught programmes. Utilising practical examples and case studies, this session will examine the challenges and opportunities that TNE provides.

Led by a discipline expert from HEA’s Disciplines team, the workshop aims to leave you more confident and better prepared to identify, implement and manage effective TNE strategies. Drawing upon HEA research on TNE, the workshop will also focus on staff preparedness and development needs.

The workshop will complement your HEA Fellowship journey as you progress to a higher Fellowship level.

Content will include the following topics:

  • Preparing academic staff for TNE;
  • Managing TNE student expectations and the learning experience;
  • TNE and employability.
